President Park Geun-hye expressed her condolences to French President Francois Hollande on January 9 in regard to the terrorist attack against the weekly satire magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris last week.

President Park said in her letter that, "The Korean people and I would like to extend our deepest condolences in regard to the damages caused to numerous lives by the terror attack on January 7. We will pray for the fallen souls and extend our deepest condolences to the families of those sacrificed."

She also said, "The Korean government is firmly determined that any terrorist behavior is uncivilized and anti-humanitarian and that it can never be justified or tolerated. We support the French government and its efforts for the eradication of terrorism. We will also join forces with the international community, including the U.N., for the eradication of terrorism."

President Park added that, "We hope that in the near future and under the leadership of President Francois Hollande the people of France will be able to overcome the shock and sadness caused by the attacks. We sincerely hope the president is successful in his task."
