Korea and the U.K. have agreed to bolster cooperation on the content industry and to work together on exploring new markets.

Acting Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Song Sookeun and U.K. Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport Karen Bradley signed an ROK-U.K. joint statement to cooperate on the content industry in Korea and the U.K. The signing ceremony took place in Yeouido, Seoul.

Under the joint statement, signed on the occasion of the third ROK-U.K. Creative Industries Forum, both Korea and the U.K. agreed to jointly look for business opportunities and new projects in third countries, and to work toward a structured exchange program for start-ups in the creative industries in both economies in order to create more jobs.

The two countries will seek to engage with appropriate organizations in both countries involved in training future creative industry professionals. The two governments also agreed to collaborate on the series of events associated with the "U.K.-Korea and Korea-U.K. 2017-18 Seasons."

On the same day, the two governments also hosted the third ROK-U.K. Creative Industries Forum in Seoul. The two countries launched the forum in 2014 after signing a memorandum of understanding in November 2013. Since then, the forum has been held alternatively in Seoul and London.
