On March 8, members of the U.N. Security Council unanimously adopt a press statement condemning North Korea’s recent launch of ballistic missiles into the East Sea.
The United Nations (U.N.) Security Council unanimously adopted a press statement on March 8 condemning North Korea’s latest simultaneous launch of four ballistic missiles.
In the statement, the 15 members of the U.N. Security Council deplored the North Korean act, saying that, “The launches into the East Sea on March 5 are in grave violation of our sanctions on the regime.”
The members also expressed serious concern over the "regime’s increasingly destabilizing behavior and defiance of the U.N. Security Council by conducting these ballistic missile launches.” They urged North Korea to “refrain from further actions, including nuclear tests, in violation of the relevant Security Council resolutions, and comply fully with its obligations under these resolutions.”
On March 8, British Ambassador to the U.N. Matthew Rycroft recites a press statement adopted unanimously by the U.N. Security Council deploring Pyongyang’s latest ballistic missile launch.
British Ambassador to the U.N. Matthew Rycroft, current council president, said as he released the press statement that, “The members agreed that the Security Council would continue to closely monitor the situation and take further significant measures, in line with the council’s previously expressed determination.”
U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley, regarding how to deal with Pyongyang, stressed that, “All options are on the table.” She said, “The U.S. administration is now reevaluating how we are going to handle North Korea going forward. We are making those decisions now and we will act accordingly.”
