President Moon Jae-in named eight new administration officials on July 17. They are: the administrator of the Public Procurement Service, the commissioner of the Military Manpower Administration, the administrator of the Rural Development Administration, the minister of the Korea Forest Service, the administrator of the Korea Meteorological Administration, the president of the National Human Resources Development Institute, the chancellor of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy, and the director general of the National Museum of Korea.

“Former Chief of the Budget Office Park Chun Sup from the Ministry of Strategy and Finance has been named as the new administrator of the Public Procurement Service; CEO Ki Chan Soo of DaeMyoung Energy has been named as the commissioner of the Military Manpower Administration; Professor Ra Seung Yong from Chonbuk National University has been named as the administrator of the Rural Development Administration; Professor Kim Jae Hyun from Konkuk University has been named as the minister of the Korea Forest Service; former officer at the Korea Meteorological Administration Nam Jae Cheol has been appointed as the new head of that administration; former officer at the Ministry of Personnel Management Oh Dong Ho has been named as the new president of the National Human Resources Development Institute; former Ambassador to Malaysia Cho Byung Jae has been named as the chancellor of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy; and, finally, Professor Bae Ki Dong from Hanyang University has been named as the director general of the National Museum of Korea,” said Cheong Wa Dae spokesperson Park Soo-hyun at the Chunchugwan press center at Cheong Wa Dae.

According to the spokesperson, the new heads of the Public Procurement Service, the Military Manpower Administration, the Rural Development Administration, the Korea Meteorological Administration, the National Human Resources Development Institute and the Korea National Diplomatic Academy were all appointed to their position because they are experts in their fields who have all served as government officials.

Regarding the new minister of the Korea Forest Service and the director general of the National Museum of Korea, who are scholars, the spokesperson said, “Minister Kim Jae Hyun is a dendrologist famous for vitalizing the local economy. He has the theoretical background and the power to put his words into action. He is expected to create jobs and to revitalize the domestic economy by linking the nation's forests and the local communities. Also, Director General Bae Ki Dong is an expert who has great achievements excavating and researching Paleolithic ruins. He has plenty of experience and a cosmopolitan outlook concerning the running of a museum.”
