Korea and China have agreed to actively work together to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula and to bring peace to the region.

President Moon Jae-in on March 30 held a meeting with Yang Jiechi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China, who was visiting Koreas as a special envoy from Chinese President Xi Jinping. They discussed cooperation between Korea and China on peace on the Korean Peninsula and on other sectors.

Special Representative Yang outlined the results of the summit between North Korea and China on March 26, which was made during Kim Jong-un’s recent visit to China. The two parties had in-depth discussions on planning cooperation methods so as to ensure fruitful summits between South and North Korea and between North Korea and the U.S.

Previously on March 29, Special Representative Yang met with Chief of the National Security Office Chung Eui-yong and said, “The summit between North Korea and China can be helpful to solve issues on the Korean Peninsula through discussions on denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, assuring peace and safety in the region, all through political negotiations.”

“China will strengthen communications with Korea and share more advice,” he said.
