Cheong Wa Dae has highly valued the latest, third, summit meeting between leaders in North Korea and China, calling it “a step forward for denuclearization.”

In regard to the North Korea-China summit that took place between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Chinese President Xi Jinping the previous day in Beijing, Cheong Wa Dae spokesperson Kim Eui-kyeom said during a regular press briefing on June 20 that, “We consider the latest North Korea-China meeting to be step forward toward denuclearization.”

Regarding Beijing’s role in the denuclearization process, Spokesperson Kim said, “We expect that China can play a positive role in completing denuclearization.”

“As China is also one of the closely-related parties on the Korean Peninsula in terms of establishing a structure for peace, China will play an important role,” said the presidential spokesperson.
