More fans will be allowed to attend pro baseball and soccer games at stadiums from June 14.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on June 11 said the crowd capacity of stadiums in areas designated Level 2 for social distancing like Seoul, Gyeonggi-do Province and Daegu will increase from 10% to 30% and from 30% to 50% in Level 1.5 areas like Busan and Gwangju.

As the country's one indoor stadium, Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul will see a hike to only 20% from 10%.

The ministry said it eased rules on sports facilities given the rise in the number of vaccinations and no case of cluster infection reported at stadiums. Another factor was that the number of games for pro baseball and soccer leagues will be halved by late this month.

The measures will be implemented through July 4.

From July 1, fully vaccinated visitors to Korea for select purposes like seeing relatives will be exempt from the mandatory two-week quarantine with restrictions.

In another easing of social distancing, fully vaccinated people visiting Korea for the purposes of major business, academic public interest, humanitarian reasons or seeing immediate family from July 1 will be exempt from the mandatory two-week quarantine.

This was decided on June 13 at a meeting of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters at Government Complex-Seoul.

Travelers must have received all of their vaccinations in the same country at least two weeks before departing for Korea to get the exemption. Those in the 13 countries with variants of the coronavirus such as South Africa and Brazil do not qualify.
