It is no secret that South Korea has become a beacon for new styles and trends in the international fashion community. From the runway, to the street, to events like the biannual Seoul Fashion Week, style is celebrated here with a passion. But have you ever wondered how Korean fashion is made? Or how a designer takes an idea and transforms it into wearable art?

I reached out to Rydia Kim, owner and designer of Varyd clothing designs and her team of collaborators, Soung Young Moon and Boyane Zel, who were kind enough to grant me an inside peak into their world.

From inception to finished product to exhibition, I invite you to join me on a photographic journey that details the hard work and passion it takes to create tomorrow’s fashion showcase.

I share with you now a behind the scenes look at Varyd Designs newest collection, Nutty Earworm: Denim On The Mind. It is currently on exhibit now until March 27th in the cultural space in Kangol Korea’s Hongdae store.

This is how Korean Fashion is made.

Rydia invites me to meet her at Dongdaemun Fabric Market. After meandering through the narrow aisles of the warehouse, we find her vendor’s booth. This is where she places special orders for her customized fabrics.
