Talk Talk Korea 2019, a global contest of Korea-related content now in its sixth year, was launched on June 21.
The Korean Culture & Information Service (KOCIS), a subsidiary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, is jointly hosting the event, the biggest of its kind in Korea, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. An estimated 30,000 people worldwide compete in this contest every year.
This year's competition has been expanded to six categories to attract more participants. The categories are "Talk about Korea (video)," "Hansik (Korean food) and I (photo)," "Recommended Korean Songs (video)," "Illustrations of Peace (art)," "Speaking Korean (video)" and "Webtoon on Koreans (online comics)." Entries will be accepted through Aug. 29 in three separate sessions and 126 winners will be selected.
The grand prize winner in each category will earn a five-day trip to Korea. Another gift awarded during the contest period is a signed CD from Stray Kids, a K-pop boy group designated promotional ambassador for KOCIS.
KOCIS Director Kim Tae-hoon said, "Whenever I watch content by participants, I can feel the rapid spread of Hallyu every year," adding, "I hope that this year's contest can pave the way for expanding proper knowledge and enhancing a positive image of Korea."
