The Judge Training School in Gia Lam, Hanoi, was established in 2012 in order to train legal professionals. It was built by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) at the request of the Vietnamese government. The school was designed after Korea's own Judicial Research & Training Institute. Some 150 justice system officials from the supreme courts of the two nations have been involved in exchanging knowledge and information about judicial training systems and law in general since the school's opening.

The Vietnamese government is undergoing a final review process with the goal of upgrading the Judge Training School into a court academy. When it becomes a court academy, it will then be expanded to educate not only judges but also court-related public employees. It will also be possible to establish university courses at the bachelor's, master's and Ph.D. levels to educate legal professionals, allowing for a more systematic and standardized training program.

"This project is contributing to the Vietnamese government's efforts to realize its 'Judicial Reform Strategy to 2020' agenda," said Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang.

The president then asked for the Korean government's continued interest in the matter so that the project would bear fruit. He stressed the importance of exchanges between the supreme courts of the two nations.

Other officials, including Chief Judge of the Supreme People's Court Truong Hoa Binh and Judge Training School Rector Chu Xuan Minh, were also present at the school that day.
