Jeongwol Daeboreum celebrations are taking place all over Gangwondo Province, from Chuncheon to Gangneung. Come make your wishes for health and prosperity and start 2010 off on the right foot!
- Gangneung -
The 2010 Daeboreum Gangneung Full Moon Rite is held on February 28 at Namdaecheon Riverside in front of Gangneung Dano Cultural Center. This folk festival includes a variety of folk games, performances and Mangwol rituals, This year, there will also be a number of events related to the province bid to hots the 2018 Winter Olympiad, including the flying of light lamps and balloons.

- Donghae -
This two day Jeongwol Daeboreum Moonlight Festival opens February 27 and 28 at Jeoncheon Riverside in Bukpyeong-dong. The evening before Daeboreum features gaetbae boat rides, a fire show of hope, and traditional cultural performances. The main program on the 28th will include exorcist events, family wish writing, candlelight parade, and eating bureom nuts.
- Samcheok -
The 2010 Samcheok Jeongwol Daeboreum Festival is held from February 26th to 28th, at the Seongnam-dong EXPO Town Plaza. It is the largest traditional folk festival in the region and presents various folk games, a ritual ceremony, and congratulatory events. Visitors can participate in rice pasta dough pounding, neolttwigi seesaw jumping, family wish writing, and the other unique customs of the Jeongwol Daeboreum holiday.
- Wonju -
The 28th Moonlight Festival starts at 10 am to 11 pm on February 28 at Hoechon Village in Maeji-ri, Heungeop-myeon in Wonju. The festival, which now draws more than 10,000 people on to the one day event, opens with a performance of maeji nongak farmer’s music, followed by a parade to the village shrine before the moonrise. In addition to daedongnori, visitors can take part in a make-a-wish event with a torch and the burning of daljip in a bon fire praying for good health throughout the year.
- Chuncheon -
The Chuncheon Cultural Center hosts Dalmaji Moonlight Event from 1 pm to 9 pm on February 28, 2010 at the outdoor music hall of Uiam Park. Over 10,000 people are expected to attend this event, which includes various folk games like neolttwigi jumping, jwibullori, fire lighting of letters, and the erection of a totem pole. Auxiliary programs include the sampling of daeboreum food and roasted sweet potato.
