The 24th Icheon Ceramic Festival is scheduled to be held at Seoulbong Park and the nearby region from April 24th to May 16th. The festival, which will run under the theme ‘Joyful Ceramic Trip to Icheon,’ includes over 20 different programs for visitors and families including exhibitions, hands-on experiences, shopping, and other events.
During the festival period, the ‘Individual Ceramic Studio’ will be open for visitors to make their own pottery and for children to play with clay. This year also marks the debut of the ‘Ceramic Puzzle Experience,’ which not only features puzzles made out of ceramic pieces, but also an area that allows guests to experiment with the wide diversity of sounds that ceramics can make.
Winning pieces from the Icheon Ceramic Trend Competition will be on display in the Icheon Art Hall and in celebration of the burgeoning popularity of rice liquor, novelty liquor glasses will be on sale at the ‘100 Rice Liquor Showroom’ at discounted prices.
To have an even more well-rounded and exciting experience during this event, visitors can participate in a special travel course that includes events like: ‘Ceramic World and Hot Spa Trip,’ ‘Ceramics and a Visit to Seodang,’ and ‘Experiencing the Craftsmanship of Ceramics.’
This all-inclusive travel package allows visitors to check out the area’s hot spa and a traditional Seodang at Icheon, in addition to the many entertaining festival events. In order to participate in the program reservations must be made under the ‘Travel Course’ (여행코스) subsection of the ‘Programs’ (프로그램) section of the website, www.ceramic.or.kr (Korean).
The festival’s official opening ceremony will take place on the 24th, followed by a schedule of officially-sponsored events and performances in lieu of an ending ceremony.
