May 13, 2011
The third Seoul International Forum for Literature will run from May 24 to 26.
This forum is run by the Daesan Foundation, and will take place at the Kyobo Convention Hall in Gwanghwamun. There will be five different sections, all organized around the theme of “The Globalizing World and the Human Community.”
Outstanding writers from all over the world will participate in the forum to exchange and discuss important ideas and issues in literature. Nobel prize-winning author Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio will give the keynote speech after the opening ceremony, followed by a discussion session on the self and the other in the age of multiculturalism. Later that same day, the second session will address writing in a globalized world.
On May 25, attendees will discuss literature in the age of post-ideology, writing for the world market and the multimedia environment. The next day, participants will be addressing issues of literature and eco-criticism.
“This forum will play a crucial role and we hope that it will help Korean literature gain more attention worldwide,” said Professor Kim U-chang of Ewha Womans University.
