Korean Pro-Baseball All-Star series starts on July 23

The 2011 Lotte Card Pro-Baseball All-Star series will open on July 23 at 6:30 p.m. at Jamsil Baseball Stadium. The event pits two teams of players selected from the league by reporters, coaches and fans against each other.


This year, the Eastern league will include players from the Samsung Lions, SK Wyverns, Lotte Giants and Doosan Bears, led by Kim Sung-keun, the current manager of the SK Wyverns. Kia Tigers manager Cho Bum-hyun will take charge of the Western league, with players drawn from the KIA Tigers, LG Twins, Hanhwa Eagles, and Nexen Heroes.

The winning team will get receive prize money of 30 million won, plus restaurant certificates worth 12 million won and sports gear worth 22 million won.

Various special events will be held during at the same venue during the series, including a special photograph exhibition on pro baseball in Korea to celebrate its 30th anniversary, and chances for fans to get signed memorabilia and take photos with their favorite players. An ” home run race” “Speed King of Batting" speed pitching contest will also be held.

Visitors will receive small gifts and have the chance to enter a draw for DSLR cameras and Lotte gift cards.

Meanwhile, sports TV channel MBC Sports+ will air baseball-related programs, including the all-star series, for 48 straight hours starting on July 22.
