Korean films receive awards from 44th Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival

Korean films dominated the 44th Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival.
The festival held from October 6 to 16 this year in Sitges, Catalonia, Spain is known for such genres as science fiction, horror, and thriller movies.
According to the homepage of the festival, Na Hong-jin was named Best Director for The Yellow Sea. Oh Young-du’s Invasion of Alien Bikini and PARKing CHANce (Park Chan-wook & Park Chan-kyong)’s Night Fishing received awards in the Noves Visions category where films with new trends are honored.
Ryoo Seung-wan's The Unjust received the Casa Àsia award and Oh Sung-yoon's Leafie received the Sitgest Family award.
During the festival, a number of Korean films were shown including Kim Ki-duk's Arirang, Lee Hyun-soo's A Function, and Kim Min-suk's Haunters. Film director Ryoo Seung-wan was invited to join one of the juries.
Previously, Kim Ok-vin received the Best Actress award for Thirst at the 42nd festival and Yun-Yeo-Jung received the same award in 1971 at the 4th festival with her movie Woman of Fire.
