Soon, travelers will be able to take the high-speed KTX bullet train directly to Incheon International Airport from Seoul Station starting at the end of this year. It saves both time and money, as people can use the new KTX service at the airport, instead of expensive connecting flights, to go to places such as Busan, Gwangju, and Daejeon.

Currently, KTX passengers have no other options but to get off at Seoul Station and transfer to a limousine bus or the Airport Railroad Express (AREX) subway line to get to Incheon International Airport. But such inconvenient transit journeys will come to an end once the KTX service running from Seoul Station straight to Incheon International Airport opens in December this year.

With the project connecting the new Gyeongui Line to the Airport Railroad Express (AREX) Line (spanning about 2.9 kilometers) to be completed before the end of the year, bullet trains are to take KTX passengers departing from regions such as Busan, Gwangju, and Daegu directly to Incheon International Airport.

The ambitious project will connect Susaek Station on the new Gyeongui Line to the AREX Line, enabling KTX passengers to travel from Seoul Station to Incheon Airport without any transit redundancy.

As the KTX service is extended to Geomam Station, a stop-over station on the AREX Line, KTX service will be introduced to Incheon City, which has been met by positive responses from Incheon citizens.

The extension of the KTX running from Seoul Station to Incheon International Airport is expected to shorten the trip to 30 minutes, boosting the ridership at Incheon International Airport, and helping foreign tourists conveniently travel to many regions across the nation.
