- Pittsburgh G20 Summit (September 2009)
- Global leaders from 20 larger economies got together in Pittsburgh on Sep. 25 to resuscitate the stuttered economy. The leaders at the meeting emphasized the importance of the developing and emerging economies for economic recovery, and adopted a relevant joint statement. Ahead of the meeting, Korea was selected to host the fifth G20 meeting in 2010.
- Korea-Denmark Summit (September 2009)
- President Lee and Danish Prime Minister Lars Rasmussen agreed on Sep. 24 to further develop their bilateral ties celebrating the year which marks the 50th anniversary of the two countries' diplomatic ties.
- Korea-Japan Summit (September 2009)
- Korean President Lee Myung-bak met with new Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama in New York on Sep. 23, and discussed pending issues between the two countries, reconfirming cooperation in dealing with North Korean nuclear issues.
- Korea-China Summit (September 2009)
- Korean President Lee Myung-bak met with Chinese President Hu Jintao on Sep. 23 in New York City and reconfirmed close coordination between the two countries in dealing with North Korean nukes. At the talks, the leaders promised to maintain the cooperative partnership between their two nations for a peaceful settlement on the Korean Peninsula, as well as that of the Northeast Asian region.
- Korea-Canada Summit (September 2009)
- President Lee had a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper in New York City on Sep. 22 and exchanged ideas about developing Korean-Canadian ties, including ways to expedite the conclusion of an FTA deal. The President was in the city to attend the UN climate change meeting and the UN General Assembly meeting.
- Korea-Italy Summit (September 2009)
- President Lee Myung-bak and visiting Italian President Giorgio Napolitano held summit in Seoul on Sep. 14. The leaders shared thoughts on economic cooperation within the G8 and G20 frameworks. They also promised to work together through the free trade agreement between Korea and the European Union.
- Korea-Ukraine Summit (July 2009)
- President Lee met with Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko of the Ukraine at Cheong Wa Dae on July 16. They gave a high evaluation to the steady progress in bilateral relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties in February 1992.
- Korea-Sweden Summit (July 2009)
- President Lee Myung-bak and Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt held summit talks on July 13 and agreed that the international community needs to faithfully enforce UN Security Council Resolution 1874 in order to realize the denuclearization of North Korea. President Lee and his Swedish counterpart welcomed the final compromise package in the Korea-EU free trade negotiation and hoped an early signing of the deal which lasted more than two years.
- Korea-Italy Summit (July 2009)
- President Lee Myung-bak held summit talks with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi on July 10 and shared his desire to end the free trade negotiation for the Korea-EU free trade agreement (FTA).
- Korea-Poland Summit (July 2009)
- In Poland, the first destination of the presidential trip, President Lee Myung-bak and Polish President Lech Kaczynski held summit talks on July 8 and agreed to strengthen the bilateral cooperation in energy and defense industry sectors.
