Cultural assets bring new attention to Gangwondo

Chuncheon National Museum has brought renewed attention to the regional culture assets of Gangwon-do (Gangwon Province).

Chuncheon Museum unveiled the special exhibition "The Great Cultural Treasures of Gangwon Province" on October 30 in a celebration of the tenth anniversary of its opening. Running until December 9, this special exhibition gathered cultural treasures with connection to Gangwon-do from all across the nation into one place.

The cultural assets include Yitaejohojeogwonbon (National Treasure 131, family register of King Taejo, founder of the Joseon Dynasty), Chochungdosubyeong (National Treasure 595, folding screen embroidered with grass and insects) as well as relics found inside the octagonal nine-storied pagoda of Woljeongsa Temple (National Treasure 1375), and relics from the seated wooden Manjusri statue of Sangwonsa Temple (National Treasure 793), all of which are open to the public for the first time in history.
