The outcome of Korea-Philippines Foreign Ministers' Meeting during the ASEM

1. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Yu Myung-hwan met with his counterpart from the Philippines, Alberto Romulo, on the sidelines of the 7th ASEM. The two Ministers exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, such as the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Korea and the Philippines, regional political situation and economic and development cooperation.
2. The two Ministers agreed to promote a variety of commemorative events and further develop substantive cooperation between the two countries as the next year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Korea and the Philippines.
3. Minister Yu requested continued support and cooperation from the government of the Philippines in Korean companies doing business in the Philippines. Minister Romulo appreciated Korean companies’ contribution to the economy of the Philippines through job creation and pledged to continuously support business activities of Korean companies in the Philippines.
4. The two Ministers also exchanged views on ways to develop the relations between Korea and the ASEAN including cooperation for a success of the Korea-ASEAN Commemorative Summit with the next year marking the 20th anniversary of the establishment of dialogue partnership between Korea and the ASEAN.
